Education and
Information Programs
|
Information
on pet care and welfare is provided in elementary schools, fairs and in
"Animal Talk," a newsletter to members.
|
Cruelty and
Welfare Programs
|
This includes
helping in emergency situations, providing straw for winterizing pet
houses, educating owners about proper pet care and investigating all
calls concerning cruelty, including puppy mills. In some cases, RCHS
works with law enforcement officials. The RCHS will often pay part of a
vet bill for low income persons to guarantee humane treatment of pets.
|
Shelter
Adoption Program
|
Although the Riley
County
Humane Society does not operate a shelter, we work closely with local
shelters to promote adoptions. Every attempt is made to find
homes for animals and to improve the lives of all.
|
Pet of the
Week Program
|
If you cannot
adopt an animal, sponsor a "Pet of the Week" ad in the Manhattan
Mercury newspaper. You can advertise your business,
memorialize a beloved pet, remember a birthday or anniversary or honor
family members for just $30. The pictured pet is likely to find a
loving home. Call RCHS at 776-8433 for more information.
|
Foster Homes
for Homeless Animals
|
We are always
looking for new foster parents! If you are able to foster an animal for
short periods of time in case of emergency, call RCHS (785) 776-8433.
RCHS fostered animals are guaranteed loving homes that will provide for
their care.
