Before you adopt from RCHS

We know that you are excited about welcoming your new pet home.  Please be aware that the adoption process may take several days to complete.

We DO check references, and we DO contact landlords to verify that your new pet will be allowed on their property.

We do NOT operate on a first-come, first-serve basis.  Our concern for the animals we care for leads us to prioritize finding the best fit between the animal and the adopting family.

You must be willing and able to:

  1) Take the time needed for the proper care and training of your new pet.

  2)  Properly feed and maintain the health of your new pet, including regular vaccinations and medical treatment when necessary.

  3) Care for your new pet for its ENTIRE lifetime, making sure that your commitment will be steady through any changes in your        lifestyle or circumstances.

  4) Return your animal to RCHS if it becomes impossible for you to meet the obligations above.

An RCHS representative will follow up by e-mail or telephone a few weeks after the adoption to be certain both you and your new pet are doing well.

We put the above policies and procedures in place because we care about our foster animals and we care about YOU.  We want to do everything we can to make sure you will have a happy life together.
